Creating the ideal growth environment for your plants is what hydroponics is all about. Besides the quality of the growth medium and fertilizers it’s also crucial that there is good air circulation around your plants to obtain the maximum yield for your crop; the SystemAir RVK extractor fan is an essential tool for this task.

As your crop uses up the CO2 (carbon dioxide) from the air around it, it grows stale. If the air circulation isn’t a constant process the crop’s growth may be restricted because it can’t breathe properly. The RVK extractors by SystemAir work by removing the stale, used air from the growth environment allowing fresh, CO2 rich air to replace it.

It is recommended that the air around your crop needs to be replaced every 3 minutes. This gives you an idea as to how crucial the extractor is to maintaining the circulation. Your crop is unlikely to get this quantity of air in environments, which typically would have very slow movement without a helping how – meaning that an extractor system is a must.

Once you’ve established the need for an extractor you need to work out what size fan you’ll need; this is dependent on the size of the grow space. Measure your grow room/ grow tent and then times the width by the depth and by height – this gives you the volume of air.  For example if your room is 2m x 4m x 2m = 16m³ is its capacity. If that 16m³ needs to be circulated every three minutes that’s 20 times an hour. Here at 1st-Hydroponics our fans are categorized in cubic meters per hour, so multiply the room’s capacity by 20. So 16 X 20 = 320m³/hour. With this in mind you’re ready to select your RVK extractor.

The SystemAir Extractors are light, watertight and easy to install. They are designed to work in duct systems and because of their watertight casing can work in wet room locations too. The most impressive feature of the RVT fans is there build quality and longevity. After installation you start the fan and it’s design to run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with little or no maintenance required. It is possible to control the fan speed with a stepless thyristor or a 5-step transformer and to protect the fan against overheating they all have integral thermal contacts – some manual resetting, some automatic.

SystemAir’s attention to detail when designing and constructing the RVK products means that it’s a fan which stays with you for a long time, saving money on repairs or replacements which cheaper systems would incur.
